About FormatCalc
Useful answers, with less data sharing.
FormatCalc is an independent library of focused converters and calculators. The tools are built to solve a specific task quickly, explain the important assumptions, and keep the information you enter on your device.
Why the site exists
Small conversion jobs often involve private material: a spreadsheet extract, a draft invoice, configuration data, a client image, or financial assumptions. FormatCalc uses browser features to perform those transformations locally instead of sending the source material to a conversion server.
How tools are made
Each tool has a defined input, a repeatable transformation, example data, clear error messages, and related tools for the next likely step. Calculators expose their inputs and, where a planning assumption needs outside support, show the formula, assumptions, and research sources on the page.
- Converter logic is tested against normal inputs, malformed values, and edge cases.
- File tools use browser APIs and create the download on the visitor’s device.
- Descriptions explain format limitations, rounding, and information that may be lost during conversion.
- Pages are reviewed when a tool changes or a material source is updated.
Independence and advertising
FormatCalc is supported through advertising. Advertising does not change calculator results, determine which tools are listed, or influence the explanations on a tool page. Ads are visually separate from workbench controls, and no one should ever need to click an ad to use a tool.
Corrections
If a result looks wrong, please include the tool name, the non-sensitive test values needed to reproduce the issue, the result you expected, and the browser you used. Do not send confidential source data. Visit the contact page to report a problem.
